The HR Nobody Talks About
The invisible work of seeing people, and the future of a misunderstood profession.
“This is the part nobody puts in the job description. This is the HR nobody talks about.”
Her first book follows one Indian HR career through a factory, a mid-sized company, a hospital and a tech firm. It makes the emotional labour behind every people decision visible, argues that AI will expose weak HR rather than replace real HR, and leaves the reader with the Real HR Compass: eight points to carry into every people decision.
- See the person behind the employee
- Carry truth in both directions
- Be a voice, not a messenger
- Understand before you respond
- Protect the helper too
- Plan before people decisions
- Let AI support. Keep humans deciding.
- Lead so people feel seen

An engineer by training who chose HR, and has spent her career proving it is not a soft option.
Anupama is a process-driven HR and operations leader based in Mumbai. Her work spans payroll structuring, onboarding, statutory compliance and employee safeguarding, and she brings precision and empathy to it in equal measure.
She has set up an HR department from nothing, doubled a hospital's workforce in a year, standardised pay across a hospital, and moved an entire employee life cycle onto a digital platform. Today she co-founds and co-directs ACV Solutions, where she runs people operations, payroll and client billing, and leads the managed HR services line.
Outside work she is a keen traveller, and believes empathy and mindfulness are leadership skills, not only personal practices. In 2026 she published her first book, writing as Manu.
